Holiday season is upon us so let’s talk about how to have healthy holidays. During holiday season something we all deal with is trying to stay healthy and energetic so we can be present for our families and have the most fun.
But with so much holiday food available, it’s a little too easy to keep eating and end up with food coma over and over again (good bye energy!).
Don’t get us wrong.. when it comes to holidays we are all about food, but we also love to feel good and have lots of energy so we can play with the kids, spend time with the family and have lots of fun.
This is why we thought it might help to give you some simple tips on how to have healthy holidays and the best time of the year.
6 tips to enjoy healthy holidays:
1. Start with protein and fiber
With protein and fiber it takes 5 minutes for our body to give us the signal that we are starting to get full. So if you start with protein and fibrous foods, you are less likely to over eat which helps you with having healthy happy holidays.
With simple carbs it takes much longer, so it’s much easier to over eat and wonder to yourself later, “what just happened?”
2. Get a small plate
This is more of a mind hack. If we see a plate that is full with food, it makes us think that we’ve eaten enough. It doesn’t matter that the plate is small.
Yes we want to enjoy all the food, but it never truly makes us feel happy when we are stuffed right!
3. Watch out for fried foods
Watch out for fried foods like chips, sweet potato fries, etc. Go for more of the steamed/grilled options instead. You can swap chips with cucumbers and carrots to eat with salsa or guacamole. Cutting down on fried foods will help you feel light and lean.
4. Take fiber before dessert
If you’re going to eat something that is high in sugar, just make sure to take a spoon of Fibergy in water before eating to help lower the glycemic index of the food and avoiding the endless cycle of craving more sugary foods.
Remember, more the fiber in the food – the longer it takes to digest, giving you stable energy and keeping you full for longer.

5. Shorts bursts of workouts
We know how busy it gets during the holidays, so 5 minutes of movement 3 times a day will get your blood pumping and keep you more active.
This could be anything like doing 10 jumping jacks while your waiting for the laundry or 10 squats while the food is cooking on the stove, etc. You could spread it out throughout the day if doing a whole workout in one go isn’t possible.
Some other ideas for movement – 5 minutes running on the spot, 10 star jumps, 10 burpees, 10 mountain climbers, 1 min plank and 10 push ups.
6. Take a high quality broad spectrum supplement
Minerals and Vitamins are crucial for metabolising glucose, fats, protein and carbohydrates. They are also full of antioxidants that help bring down inflammation in the body by repairing the free radical damage (which can be caused by over eating, lack of sleep, wrong foods, stress, etc).
We recommend USANA Cellsentials because its one of the most broad spectrum supplement available in the market. CellSentials are a beautiful blend of Minerals, Vitamins, Antioxidants, Phytonutrients and Incelligence Complex. So you actually get everything that you could possible need to stay healthy and stress free during these holidays.
