MORNING RITUAL

Do you feel like it’s hard to follow through on your goals and keep yourself motivated? Do events in the day drain your energy out? If you answered YES to the above questions, then creating a Morning Ritual can help immensely!

I know we’ve all heard about this term and everyone has a different ritual. I actually really like my sleep so I used to wake up as late as I could. Weekends I would just sleep in till 10 or 11am. 
But then I listened to a podcast episode about the 5am club. And I was really inspired to try it out. So I created a challenge for myself to wake up at 5am everyday and do a simple morning ritual. 

  • 5am – 5:20am I would do movement (This can be any movement I feel like doing at 5am – yoga, dance, high intensity workout etc.)
  • 5:20am – 5:40am I would read something or listen to an audiobook
  • 5:40am – 6:00am I would do meditation
  • After that I would start my work

I tell you what! At first this literally was the hardest thing I could’ve done. Waking up at 5am was not easy at all. But I pushed on and did it anyway and I couldn’t be happier. I feel like ever since I started waking up at 5am, my whole day transformed. I am able to not only get all the things that matter to me, like working out, meditation and reading (doing some personal development) but I am also able to get most of my work done before 9am. I find that this is the most productive time to also do creative work. Now that I’ve been doing this for a while, I usually don’t even need an alarm towage up at 5am. I automatically wake up at the same time.

So how could this change things so much, that I call it transformational? Here’s how this 3 step ritual can help.

 

3 STEP MORNING RITUAL TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE:

1. MOVE YOUR BODY

 

When you move your body first thing in the morning, it helps you wake up, it energises you and gets oxygen flowing into your body. It also helps you create a habit of moving your body and exercising everyday, even if it is gentle movement. You will find that when you start moving your body every morning, you will start to build a habit and after 21 days of doing this, it will be easier to move your body first thing in the morning than to not. This will help you build strength and slowly you can start doing more.

 

2. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Reading or listening to something positive early in the morning can actually start to shape the way you think and feel about life situations. This is because in the early morning, our subconscious mind is wide open for suggestions and whatever you feed it during that time, it will start to attract into your life. This is why watching or reading news in the morning is not a good idea. Because you don’t want to give your mind those negative suggestions. 

 

3. MEDITATION AND MINDFULNESS

Doing meditation or a spiritual practice of your choice is a great way to connect with your higher self. It ultimately helps you stay grounded in life and deal better with situations. If we don’t take the time to quite the chatter in our mind, it can lead to anxiety. It’s important to take some time to get present and connect with what really matters in life. 

Just doing these 3 things everyday will give you the kind of start to your day that can take your health and life to the next level. Now you may not choose to wake up at 5am like me, but still putting just an hour into your morning ritual can help you start strong 🤸‍♀️🏋️‍♀️🏊‍♀️
